Artwork Description
In this dynamic rendering, the artist utilises overlapping imagery to encapsulate the plurality of anxiety confronted by a sole breadwinner juggling multiple roles. The street food hawker is not only responsible for the subsistence of his family, but also the survival of tradition through his family recipe for the quintessential asam laksa. The artist’s attention to detail is evident in the use of iconic rooster design ceramic bowls or ji gong wan that first found their way to our shores through Chinese settlers from the Guangdong province.
