The artist displays detailed attention to the elements incorporated in the foreground, middle ground and background to achieve a contemporaneously tactile and flat composition. The fading high-rise buildings in the background are juxtaposed against the brightly illustrated historical buildings in the middle ground, reflecting the rustic charm of pre-war edifices on Jalan Tun HS Lee, which are under constant threat from rapid redevelopment as demonstrated by the obtrusive construction scene in the foreground.
