Artwork Description

The artist makes well-thought-out technical decisions to create a truly multifaceted art piece. The deliberate choice of delicate silk organza, allows the artwork to metamorphose with every movement. Concurrently, the acrylic paint, which in effect lays flat on the silk screen, fools the eye of the viewer with its tactile appearance. The rich heritage of the Melanau people of Sarawak or the A-likou, which denotes 'people of the river’ is pronounced in this vivid art piece. The artist has chosen to pay homage to the traditional headdress, known as the seroang, which features intricate beadwork in a calico of colours.
