Artwork Description
Through a masterful manipulation of scale, the artist successfully augments the grandeur of the Ng Fook Thong temple while realistically capturing the rawness of its dilapidating structure. Built in 1898 in Georgetown, Penang by Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee as the first Chinese school in Malaysia, the temple is home to a rich array of heritage elements including ornamental figurines, decorative filigree, 200-year-old ancestral tablets as well as an elaborately carved altar.
