Artwork Description
Oil, watercolour and acrylic are utilised to memorialise the artist’s childhood home. The ancestral home, once a place of youthful mischief and merriment is now but a casualty of accelerated development in Penang. Demolished when the artist was only 10 years old, it clearly still holds special meaning for the artist. The addition of a three dimensional facet through the pop up element adds depth to the nostalgic piece, while the manipulation of scale accentuates a sense of whimsy, often associated with one’s childhood.
