Artwork Description

Beaded slippers, commonly known as Kasut Manek among the Peranakan community are usually paired together with an intricately embroidered Nyonya kebaya and batik sarong by Peranakan women, the Nyonya. Through the use of solid intense colours to depict the Peranakan heritage, the artist has crafted an innovative piece that is reminiscent of Pop art, inspiring the onlooker to find the relevance in heritage.
